A NZQA‑approved Level 5 aviation diploma combining theoretical knowledge and practical flight training to qualify graduates with the operational and theoretical skills required to operate as commercial pilots in general aviation.
Must be 18 years old before PPL/CPL flight exams, pass the ADAPT trainee pilot prescreen test, hold NCEA Level 2 or equivalent, possess an aviation Class 1 medical, meet CAANZ fit & proper requirements, and demonstrate spoken English competency (international students need IELTS 5.5+ or equivalent).
Covers PPL/CPL/IR theory subjects such as Air Law, Flight Navigation, Meteorology, Principles of Flight, Aircraft Technical Knowledge, Human Factors, IR law, IR navigation instruments/ aids, plus related practical flight phases (single/multi‑engine, IFR, radiotelephony competence).
Ongoing internal assessments in theory subjects and practical flight evaluations leading to eligibility for CAANZ flight tests and achieving licence‑related competencies.
